Pre-Camporee/Olympics Opening Ceremonies
Hopefully, everyone is planning on attending our next camping trip.It is shaping up to be a great, fun event, and we would love to see all scouts attend. We are heading to Falcon Group Campground for a two-night event, located about 60 minutes away off of the Ortega Highway.
SCHEDULE
Arrive at the church on Friday, March 17 at 5:45pm.Please eat dinner beforehand. We will leave promptly at 6:00, so please be on time. We will carpool to the event and arrive around 7:00 to set up camp.We’ve gotten some nice new tents!After setup, we will have some chill time around the campfire.
Saturday:After breakfast, we will be having some great patrol competitions.We will be doing our new camporee event: River of Lava.This is a team building game that involves a few additional scout skills. We will also be doing a knot relay, tripod building, and a compass code breaking game.
After lunch, we will start the Olympics.A brief torch run will light the Olympic flame and the events will begin. Each scout that participates in this campout and the closing Olympics campout in June will be able to earn the athletics merit badge. Some of the athletic activities will include baseball throwing, sprinting, and long jump.
After dinner, we will have a great campfire.Several of our scouts that are working on their communications merit badge will be coordinating and hosting this event.
Sunday morning after breakfast we will break down camp, so a little advancement and head back to town.Pick up will be at the Laguna Design Center parking lot at about 11:00 on the corner of Alicia and Aliso Creek.
Please register for the event on the website.Registration closes this Monday, March 13.Even if your scout can only attend part of the event, we would love for them to attend. Just indicate their timeline on the signup. Menu planning will be happening at the troop meeting on the 14th.
CARPOOL: We need parents to drive!You will find a calendar event on the troop website to sign up!The camp isn’t too far away and is an easy opportunity to help the troop.Parents picking up on Sunday should be at camp at 9:00. If you need to drop off your Scout late or pick them up early, please indicate this on the carpool list!
ADULTS: We will have a quick meeting at the next troop meeting for all adults attending the camp to coordinate the cooking and program. This will take place just after the Summercamp parent meeting.
